SEPT. 5, 2006─ Mr.
Khaled Mahfouth Behah, oil minister, paid a visit to
Say’oun community college, Hadhramout governorate.
He was received by the college’s dean and a number
of the teaching staff.
He was giving a
detailed explanation of the offered majors and
academic specializations. The college is concerned
with having excellent education products in
different community fields; at the top of the list
are information technology, health science, small
project management, nursing, etc.
During his visit,
the minister stated that the MOM would sustain all
expenses of the nursing department and cover its
needs; this is for the department would raise the
enrollment of female nurses and would help the
Yemeni girl in Say’oun to join and benefit from this
specialization.
He gave his
advice to that raising public awareness is
fundamental with respect to this humanitarian
specialization. He further stressed that the
college’s labs would be granted with necessary
support. \
He added that
planting the college is extremely important to
create a nice climate and exciting atmosphere for
the students and graduates who would work in
occupations lacking in the job market. The
beatification of the college’s premises would
partake in making its affiliates efficiently face
the challenges of their future and the market needs
and revitalize Say’oun’s important role which it
played through out history.
More over, paying
an inspection visit to block 9, Malik district,
Hadhramout governorate, the oil minister were all
ears to the technicians of the technical operations
works, drilling and exploration. Actually, reports
affirm that production capacity of this block
amounts to about 10 thousand barrels/day and that it
is expected to rise to 25 thousand barrels/day.
Besides encouraging the exertion of such efforts, he
made sure that their operational work and
environment protection monitoring programs are
working well. Later on, he discussed with the locals
and surrounding villages their needs of social
development projects and he promised that such basic
service utilities like schools, electricity and
water would be constructed in less that a year.
In his visit, he
was accompanied by: Dr. Ahmed Abdulilah, PEPA’s
chair; Eng. Anwar Salem, Yemeni Gas Company’s chair;
Eng. Nasser Al-Humaidi, PEPA’s deputy for
exploration affairs; Eng. Thabit Abbas, PEPA’s
deputy for production affairs; and Juma’an Baraba’a,
MOM’s branch’s GM in the Valley and Desert.
