OCT. 2006─ At the MOM
and under the patronage of the Oil Minister, the
geological survey and minerals authority (GSMA)
representing the ministry of oil and minerals (MOM)
and Jabil Saleb Company-Yemen Ltd represented by
Zincox company, a British firm, Inssan Company, a
Yemeni company, Anglo-American, signed the Minerals
Exploitation Contract to utilize and develop zinc,
copper and silver at Nahem district, Sana’a
governorate. This was according to the authorization
of the MOM by the council of ministers to pen down
this contract.
On this occasion,
the oil minister released a statement to the Yemeni
Saba Agency saying, “This contract is extraordinary
in the mining sector because its purpose is to open
the first mine for extracting zinc, copper and
silver in Yemen. Adding that the signing of the
contract is a good omen and a practical initiative,
he expressed his great expectation to achieve more
of such objectives and meaningful activities
especially in utilization minerals which Yemen
prides itself with.
In addition, such
accomplishments and programs are part of the great
orientation of the leadership to affect this sector
as means of enhancing the intended economic and
development mobilization.
The contract was
penned down by Mr. Khaled Behah, Oil Minister, and
Dr. Isma’eel Aljunaid, GSMA chairman, representing
the Yemeni MOM and Mr. Brite James Great, Jabel
Saleb Companyh GM and Hayel Abdulhaq.
