In
the course of strengthening Yemeni-Indian various
relations with a special focus on the oil and gas
sector, HE Mr. Murli Deora, India's Oil and Natural
Gas Minister, is arriving in Sana'a on February 2,
2007. Mr. Deora is on a 4 day visit from 2-4
February. Regarding this visit, HE Mr. Khaled Behah,
Yemeni Oil and Minerals Minister, to the 26th
September Newspaper stated, "The Indian Minister
along with his accompanying delegation of giant
Indian oil companies are visiting Yemen upon the
invitation made by the Oil and Minerals Ministry in
the Seventh Global Oil Conference. The aim of the
visit is to offer them with an overall overview of
opportunities offered by Yemen in the oil and
minerals sector and services granted in this field.
Mr. Behah emphasized
that all relevant information and data would given
to the Indian delegation. Not only that, the
delegation would be provided with a detailed account
of relevant facilities, incentives and features
characterizing this sector just in the same
transparent manner such data are offered to foreign
capitals and companies interested in investing in
Yemen. More importantly, he further pointed out that
a comprehensive and detailed overview of the
available investment opportunities in the Yemeni oil
industry would be put on the table for the
delegation.
"We are going to have
negotiations geared to enhance different cooperation
venues between Yemen and India," Mr. Behah stated.
He added, "The program
which the Ministry has made for this visit is full
of negations, field visits and tours to oil blocks."
"The Indian delegation
aspires to have a complete knowledge of Yemeni
investment climate and circumstances and to make use
of such investment atmospheres. We are going to
discuss the possibility of establishing partnership
investment companies," he enhanced.
He concluded by
stating that the visit is part of his Ministry's
program directed to attract more oil companies to
invest in Yemen and, thus, foster development as
indicated by HE President Ali A. Saleh's platform
