On Wednesday May 2nd,
2007 H.E. Mr. Khaled Mahfoudh Bahah Yemen Minister
of Oil and Minerals held a number of meetings in
Calgary with Ministers of the government of
Alberta. The minister met with:

Intergovernmental and Aboriginal Relations.

M.L.A., Minister of Energy
During the meetings
bilateral cooperation was discussed between Yemen
and Canada and discussion were held regarding
encouraging Canadian Oil companies to invest in
Yemen in the Oil, Gas and Minerals fields and
developing trade between both countries. In
addition during the meetings Mr. Khaled Bahah
discussed future cooperation between the Canadian
Universities and Yemeni Universities and
Institutes. In addition the assistance of the
government of Alberta was requested in funding a
scholarship program for Yemeni students to study in
Canada.
During the meetings
the Minister of Oil and Minerals invited the
Minister of Energy to visit Yemen with
representatives of Oil companies and business people
in order to explore the investment opportunities
available in Yemen.
The Minister of Oil
and accompanying delegation visited the Parliament
in Calgary where he met the President and members of
the parliament. The Minister of Oil attended part
of the session for this day.
During these visits
he was accompanied by Yemen Ambassador to Canada Dr.
Abdullah AbdulWali Nasher.
On the evening of May 1, 2007 the Minister of Oil
visited one of the Oil production fields (Oil Sands)
in Alberta which is considered the largest Oil
reserve equaling to 173 billion barrels of Oil. The
daily production of these fields is 966000 b/d. The
minister was given a presentation on the operations
and production of Oil in these fields. Total
investment in these oil fields 10 billions dollars.
