NOVEMLER 4−Today a meeting of the financially and
technically qualified bidding companies was held at
the premises of the MOM, Sana'a. The meeting was to
give out the relevant documents to the companies
which were selected as initially qualified for the
concession of 14 oil blocks in Yemen.
In a press release to national and international
media agencies, Mr. Khaled Bahah, oil and minerals
minister, said that this competition is on the
following open blocks: 19, 30, 11, 23, 17, 12, 84,
83, 82, 80, 79, 57, 29 and 28. These blocks are
scattered in 14 Yemeni governorates. Actually, out
of 63, 34 international oil companies were
qualified. Some of are of the following
nationalities: American, Canadian, French, Swiss,
British, Swedish, Austrian, Spanish, Irish,
Australian, Malaysian, Indonesian, Pakistani,
Emirate, Omani, Czech, Turkish, Chinese, Algerian
and Japanese.
He further added that the qualification process
banked on studying and evaluating the submitted
bidding documents of 63 bidders. This was to select
the most qualified bidders so that they could
complete the remaining procedures of this
international bidding. In addition, within the
period from July to 20 September, the PEPA opened
its data room for qualified companies to access all
information relevant to each block.
In the meeting, the minister gave out the offer
forms which encompass the minimum technical and
financial requirements for each block. The bidding
companies are supposed to present their final
biddings by 25 November 2006 in sealed envelopes.
Then the concerned commission of the third
international bidding would carry out financial and
technical analysis of the offers within the period
from 26 November to 19 December 2006. The final
official announcement of the winning bidders would
be made on 20 December 2006.
