Aden Refineries
The construction
of Aden Refineries initiated in 1952 and was
finished in 1954 by the British Oil Company. Its
ownership was then transferred to Yemen on May 1,
1977 after the British company had abandoned it. At
the time being, refining crude oil for the local
market, it produces about 80 thousand barrels/day.
Beside that, it has storages for crude oil and oil
derivatives for foreign companies and it also
practices some trade activities in international
markets (such as selling and purchasing oil
derivatives). It fuels vessels of different kinds
embarking to the Aden port. Its products are
gasoline, diesel, mazot, kerosene, LPG, petroleum
ether, asphalt, and vacuum gas.
Ma’reb

It was
constructed in 1986 with a production capacity of 10
thousand barrels/day. It was operated by Hunt Oil
Company in accordance with the agreement with the
company. Yet, in 1998, the refinery was handed by
Hunt to the Yemeni Refining Company to operate the
refinery with 100% locals. The refinery produces
gasoline, diesel, mazot and ether.

One of these
projects is the construction of Ra’ess Issa Refinery
located at Al-Hudaidah governorate. The MOM signed
an agreement with the Yemeni Refining Company and
Hood Oil Company appertaining to construct a

Having a 45 thousand barrel/day production capacity,
the refinery’s products include the following:
